..an interest in the use of light and colour in the spaces around us and the impact it has on the future spaces we create…

About

In these series of photography, focusing on the ever growing presence of the artificial light of our streets, rooms and devices. By delving into the abstract force of this light through image creation and questioning what a future bathed in this light could soon be.

A daily routine forms around the natural and artificial light sources we interact with.

Documentations of daily light sources

Through daily life, we interact with so much light that we can take for granted. The presence of natural light being a constant through history and the artificial light that could become silence and cause the disappearance of the sun.

These documentations of the presence and relationship between a daily routine with artificial light are to give a window into a present observation of artificial lights power becoming reality. In the presence of our eyes, the light source, and the effects from that light bring the whole range of emotions and perceptions of the spaces we live in today and to the spaces we now create.

And what gives colour to objects? Is it the light itself, or our own vision processing the interaction between the light and object it touches? If a room is dark and there is no light, does colour still exist? The power of our perspective and our vision in interacting with this light is at a reach beyond what the world alone creates, our own effect on this planet works for ourselves and our world. It’s our strive to see more, and to keep observing, even if it means closing off the natural light that could change our future to change how we live immensely.

Bathing in artificial light

In the natural light

In the interaction between the soft yellow light and the white light, we are also interchanging the yellow for the ‘white light’. The blinding nature of the LED lights bring a harsh contrast with the yellow and the dark surroundings, causing eye strain or disorientation. It’s a torch being quickly brought to your face.
